The Art of the Brick Exhibit at the Buffalo Museum of Science

We had the privilege of attending the VIP Preview Reception for The Art of the Brick, presented by M&T Bank at the Buffalo Museum of Science and it was so much fun!   Both boys have recently became really interested in LEGOs so I knew this exhibit would be right up their alley.

The exhibit was FASCINATING, all LEGO creations by artist Nathan Sawaya.  Famous paintings and sculptures recreated with LEGOs, artistic LEGO creations, like a yellow man opening up his chest with yellow LEGOs falling out or a face peaking through a LEGO wall, and our boys’ highlight: a life size LEGO dinosaur skeleton sculpture!
At the end of the exhibit, there were a number of interactive LEGO building stations for the kids to create structures according to specific tasks.  At Dylan’s station, the task was to build a LEGO structure on four stands that couldn’t touch the surface because it was “lava”.

I love these interactive learning experiences that we can give our kids!  I can imagine that older kids would see this exhibit and feel inspired to recreate their own Nathan Sawaya LEGO sculpture!

The exhibit is open for the public now through the beginning of May!  Make sure to visit the Buffalo Museum Science while The Art of the Brick Exhibit is there!
