FIVE reasons why you need a DSLR camera for your next trip.

Listen, I know it may seem like “one more thing” to pack and carry around, but if you love having those beautiful photographs to remember that epic trip you went on, buying a DSLR camera is a must! Trust me, I’ve tried only bringing my iPhone on a hike, the photos just aren’t the same as with a real camera. So here is my list of five reasons why I think everyone needs to have a DSLR camera.

FIVE reasons why you need a real camera for your next trip.

1. Image Quality: DSLR cameras give you such higher image quality compared to smartphone cameras, especially in low-light conditions or when capturing detailed landscapes. Why is this important? We looove enlarging our prints and we have them all over the house- we would never be able to enlarge our iPhone photos like we can with our DSLR shots.

2. Versatility: DSLRs allow for interchangeable lenses, providing photographers with the flexibility to choose the right lens for the scene, whether it’s wide-angle, telephoto, or macro. Traveling to Africa, we brought our telephoto lens and got an amazing shot of these lions in the distance.

3. Performance: If you have kids, DSLRs are ideal because they generally have faster autofocus systems and higher burst rates. This makes them better for capturing fast-moving subjects or action shots. This is so great when you want to capture those moments of your kids- running on the beach, picking a flower in a field at sunset, laughing around a campfire. You can capture these beautiful moments so easily when you have the right camera.

4. Durability: DSLRs are typically built to withstand rugged conditions, making them ideal for travel adventures where a camera may be subjected to rough handling or inclement weather.

5. Battery Life: Honestly, to save my iPhone battery life, this is reason enough. DSLRs often have longer battery life compared to smartphones, ensuring that photographers can capture more shots without worrying about running out of power. If you are like me, this is HUGE! My phone is always under 20% and using my iPhone camera sucks my battery that I may need for more important things, like gps for directions.

We love our cannon6D, (here’s one similar) which we’ve had for a long time and as much as we say we want to upgrade it, there hasn’t been a need because it still works so great and we LOVE how our photos turn out!
