Our Next Chapter: 3 Months in Utah

We’ve been keeping a secret from you... and I cannot wait to share it! We have officially moved to Utah for the next three months, and we are feeling all the feels: excitement, curiosity, and honestly, a little bit of "overwhelmed."

Why Utah?

Many of you have asked how this happened. My husband’s job brings us here! He recently took a new position within his company. Originally, they asked him to fly out to Salt Lake City every other week, but that just wasn’t going to work for us—we stick together. He asked if the whole family could come for three months instead, and they loved the idea!

The Big Change: Homeschooling

While Matt heads into the office every day, the kids and I are embarking on a brand-new adventure: homeschooling. This is my first time ever stepping into the role of "homeschool mama."

I’ve always wondered what it would be like, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. While we are following their teachers' lesson plans (so it’s a bit like "distance learning"), having my babies home with me all day is so worth it. It’s a tiresome and stretching season, but my hope is to grow closer to them through this unique experience.

Life in our "Home Away From Home"

We are staying in a beautiful Airbnb in South Jordan. It’s been an adjustment:

  • The Climate: Moving from Buffalo to the mountains means a lot of snow gear for skiing and mountain hikes along with new rhythms.

  • The Culture: Mountain culture is so different from the East Coast!

  • The Reality: We aren't on a "vacation high" because we are living "real life" here—working, schooling, and navigating a new city.

Making Memories

Even though we’ve only been here a short time, we are already diving into the Utah lifestyle. We’ve visited the Bonneville Salt Flats, explored Antelope Island to see the bison, and started night skiing at Brighton Resort.

We will definitely miss our friends and family back in Buffalo, but three months will fly by! We can’t wait to share more of this journey with you.
