Calling all lovers of history and Architecture: the must see new Richardson Hotel

Have you heard of the new Richardson Hotel?  Matt and I were able to sneak away last week for an overnight and the whole experience was above and beyond!!  We are always suckers for beautiful architecture with rich history and the Richardson Hotel is full of it!

A little bit about Richardson Hotel: built in 1870, the hotel was formerly the Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane.  Now, finally restored as an upscale hotel, the sprawling building is absolutely breathtaking!  High ceilings, gorgeous detail and Buffalo photographs and paintings throughout the hotel will have you admiring every hallway and room.  Our room was gorgeous and even preserved an original pillar from the time period it was built!

There are three restaurants on property: Bar Vaux, Cucina, and Cafe Calvert.  We suggest making reservations at Cucina for dinner, but first, get a craft cocktail and small plates at the chic Bar Vaux.  Cucina serves northern Italian cuisine; each meal is well crafted and rich in flavor. Recently visiting Italy, we can attest to the authentic meals presented at Cucina.  For breakfast, enjoy avocado toast, egg sandwiches, bagel with lox, or pastry at Cafe Calvert.

We are so happy to see the Richardson Hotel busy and thriving in Buffalo!  Whether you are local or visiting, if you are a lover of architecture, history and fine dining, the Richardson Hotel is the place for you!
